So whaddya do?

The Man and I had to make a decision this morning we shouldn't have.

We have decided to keep Paige home from high school today.

Why, you ask?

Because it was stated yesterday that if Obama won, then certain individuals would be showing up at school today with guns blazing to take out those who supported him.

I was in shock when I heard this. Seriously?

I know this is a huge high school with many different cultures walking the halls, but seriously?

When Neighbor Greg called the school early this morning to address this, he received a call back saying that they had "heard of these rumors but didn't have names so they couldn't pursue it and they really didn't know what the fuss was over something so trivial".

Trivial, huh?

Both Paige and Britt want to go and see what goes down, they just don't want to be shot. Can't say I blame them. Kids are an emotional bunch and I'm sure if no guns are involved? There'll be issues to settle as the day progresses.

All I know? When I write this excuse tomorrow? It better not be rejected.

I am appalled that this has happened and we had to make this choice.

I hear ya sistah. What has this country came to if our kids have to kept home from school pending the presidental election results. The school had said that they were going to have extra police no matter the outcome. I'm sure it would be touchy on both sides but for this to be in the High School is totally CRAZY!

I am sick to my stomach.
And my cousin, who's a police officer, said they've been attending training sessions so they know how to handle whatever might happen, whichever way the election goes.
And it didn't go my way...

How frightening!! I'm glad you are not taking any chances. I am pretty sure we don't have to worry about something like that here. Ya know... since we homeschool and all. ;)

That's terrible that the school seemed to take the threat so lightly. School shootings have happened so often that you CANNOT take a threat like that lightly. Ever.

wow I can't believe they'd take a threat like that lightly. this place has yet to stop making me shake my head in disbelief.

Its a little scary the whole thing was ignored. Was it a specific threat or just some vague rumours? Are there really people who are that badly demoralized? Are teens going to school that bitter? Sounds like some kids need to spend a few weeks working in the forest to give them some perspective. A change in leadership, as important as that is, doesn't change the work that needs to be done by all of us normal people. I think you made the right call after all that has happened over the past ten years. Hope your excuse passes muster.

OMG, OMG, what has this damn (sorry) world has come too?

Really I would SO take this crap serious! You better believe that.

Kids have taken over, it is the parents that don't bust their ASSES (yes I said it, BUST THEIR ASS). Sometimes I think the parent need their asses busted.

There are so many ignorant people in this world and the school board admin is no better......to say "we have no names and aren't taking it sreious" well thats just plain stupid and irr-responible on their part.

I know this, if there was threats made at my daughters school and I didn't know and had sent her to school and she came home with even a scratch on her little head........well, let's just put it like this, I would own the damn school.

I had a couple come into my office years ago and their son had made threats to the princpal and asked me to rep them, I had to pass it on to a different attorney, because god knows me, I can't deal with idiots like them.

Me and mine are from the south, honey we bust their butt's and asked questions later. Amen!
