No Violations, Please

The other night I was sitting here minding my own business. Not bothering a soul. Keeping my nose clean and enjoying a few rounds of blackjack online.

Paige come around the corner to whisper in my ear.

I stopped what I was doing when I heard the urgency in her voice.

I made her repeat herself and then I started laughing.

Holding my sides laughing at my child.

All of a sudden she freaked.

"MAMA, YOU CAN NOT BLOG ABOUT THIS. OH-M-GEE, YOU SO CAN NOT BLOG ABOUT THIS. HIPAA LAW!! HIPAA LAW!! YOU CAN NOT REPEAT TO THE INTERNETS ANYTHING MEDICAL!!!"

Dangit. It was good, too.

Gotta respect the HIPAA.

For those not familiar? Maybe you can understand here.

Oh yes...violating the HIPAA. I believe that's like violating OPSEC. They're equally bad.

What's wrong, Paige? You don't want your personal health info on the web for all to see?? I mean, technically your Mama is still your keeper soo....

I understand where shes coming from. I laughed so hard at my little guy the other day and whatever it was he was doing. I said I have to blog this, and he shouted, NO don't put it on the stupid blog! LOL!!

Pssst, don't tell him about HIPPA ;}

I think that HIPAA "is a set of rules to be followed by doctors, hospitals and other health care providers." Parents aren't necessarily constrained by HIPAA. The question is whether or not by divulging information to you, Paige has the expectation of privacy. A little legal debate may be in order.

oh glory ya'll.
okay, mr. technical, a parent gives you a bandage or medicine when you are hurt, sick, or don't feel well, correct? therefor, they are providing health care. for without that bandage, you could get an infection and whatnot, so they are providing care for your health so as not to let you get sick or giving you that medicine to help hou feel better, correct?
okay then.
frickin hippa people.
deal with it.

okay- I love all the HIPPA comments but really --- whats the secret? Cmon I am over here dying to know what trouble someone else's teenager is getting into.
If it helps. The other day as Ally dashed out the door I called out
"DONT DO NOTHIN YOU WOULD BE ASHAMED TO READ ABOUT IN THE BLOG WHEN I FOUND OUT!!!"
She came home early that night. Do you think there was a connection?

Also- One day she read something about Paige and she said " Mom I got to get together with her and Christie" (Christie can be seen in an earlier post on my blog.)
